On the Essence of Regional Competitiveness

Abstract
The demarcation of the essence of regional competitiveness is the prerequisite for studying regional competitiveness. Presenting a profound analysis of the differing views on regional competitiveness between academic circle and competent authorities, this thesis holds that regional competitiveness lies fundamentally in industrial development capacity among different regions, and the essence of regional competitiveness is the regional industry development capacity in various regions, that is, comparative productive force. It also examines the relationship underlying among national competitiveness, regional competitiveness, industrial competitiveness and enterprise competitiveness.
