Abstract
According to AtPex16p/SSE1 and ESTs sequences from Brassica napus by wu-blast searching in BBSRC BrassicaDBA,a full-length cDNA encoding Pex16p from developing seeds of Brassica napus var CY2 was cloned. The gene was designated as BnPex16p which was 1 101bp in length encoding 366 amino acids. It was found that BnPex16p gene was homologous to AtPex16p/SSE1.They both had a PTS2 type peroxisome targeting signal and a close evolutionary distance.Semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that BnPex16p was constitutively expressed in CY2 tissues and its expression increased in seeds during the developmental stages. It indicated that BnPex16p gene might have crucial roles in oil accumulation in B.napus.
