Abstract

[Objective]To develop an easy, convenient, accurate and economic method for detecting total dissolved solids in drinking water.[Methods]The content of total dissolved solids in drinking water was detected by conductivity meter.[Results]The standard deviation of the method was zero,no matter the content of total dissolved solids was high or low(≥1 000 mg/L or﹤1 000 mg/L). The average recovery(except for firing in 105℃±3℃ after addition of CaCl2 )was 100% or near 100%,no matter the content of total dissolved solids was high or low(≥1 000 mg/L or﹤1 000 mg/L).[Conclusion]The method for detecting total dissolved solids in drinking water by conductivity meter is of high convenience, accuracy, precision, recovery, reliability, and low energy consumption.
