Abstract
Based on an analysis of WTO reports, this paper stresses the vital role of modem logistics, especially port logistics, in China' s social and economic development. Considering the restrictions on port logistics and focusing on building Shanghai into an international logistics center, this paper recommends strategies for promoting modern port logistics, such as creating and optimizing the comprehensive environment, changing from a cargo - handing port to a service port and expanding strategic alliances at home and abroad.
