Comprehensive analysis of trawl gears in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea area

Situation of trawl gears and fishing methods have been investigated and analyzed in the terms of types of trawl fishing operations,fishing grounds,composition of the catch,structure of trawl gears,numbers and distribution of fishing vessels etc,along the coast of Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea area during June-July,2012.The results showed that:All types 12 358 trawlers were found in surroundings of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea area,which only 30% of fishing vessels' power is more than 110.3kW,the number of fishing vessels reduced as the fishing vessels power increases.Mainly includes the following structure of trawl gears:the single-vessel beam trawl,double-vessels floating-trawl with double-wings and single-cod-end,the small single-vessel ground-trawl with double-wings and single-cod-end.It's a huge number of trawl vessels working in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea area,taking serious damage to coastal fisheries resources,and the selectivity of fishing gears is inefficient.The fishing equipment needs standardization and calls for scientific research.
