Abstract

The community characteristics of natural forest and plantation of Cunninghamia lanceolata in Jiulianshan Natural Reserve in Nanling mountains were comparatively studied by temporary samle plots. The results indicated that the plantations and the natural forests were less difference in species, there are about 83 vascular plants belonging to 59 genus and 39 family in plantation and 93 vascular plants belonging to 73 genus and 52 family in the natural forest. The species components of two communities similar to a higher degree, the similarity coefficient was 0.592,especially the understories and herb layers. Both the species diversity and evenness of the plantation were almost equal with the natural forest, but from the angle of spatial structural pattern, natural forest presented a high index of diversity evenness in the arborous and shrub layers, and plantation showed a high ecological dominance index in undergrowth.Meanwhile, the populations of the C.lanceolata in two communities were declining, and other broad-leaved mesophyte or climax trees were growthing. It is proposed that the natural forest and plantation of C.lanceolata are developing towards the local climax vegetation-subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest.
