Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical effect of kidney transplantation from DCD donors with acute renal failure(ARF).Methodology: Kidney transplantation from DCD donors with ARF from August 2011 to March 2013 was retrospectively reviewed.All donors were China type Ⅲ donors(donation after cardiac death of brain death patients).ARF was defined by RIFLE criteria.Results: Thirty kidneys from 15 donors with ARF were transplanted into 29 recipients with one patient received dual kidney transplants.Initial and terminal SCr of these donors were(90.1 ± 35.1) μmol / L and(355.6 ±153.1) μmol/L respectively.Delayed graft function(DGF) occurred in 8(27.6%) recipients and all recovered within 4 weeks.With a follow-up of 1 ~ 21 months,both patient and kidney graft survival were 100%.Mean one and 12-month glomerular filtration rate were(55.5 ± 10.5) ml /(min·1.73m2) and(60.8 ± 10.6) ml/(min·1.73m2) respectively.Conclusion: Kidneys from DCD donors with ARF have excellent short-term outcomes and may represent another potential method to safely expand the donor pool.
