Endovenous Laser Microtrauma Thearpy on 640 Cases with Varicose Veins of Lower Limb

Objective: To evaluate the effect of endovenous laser microtrauma therapy on cases with varicose veins of lower limb.Methods: A total of 640 cases with lower limb varicose veins in different degree were treated with 940 nm infrared laser therapeutic apparatus combined with small incision in inguinal groove,and the near curative effect and long-term recurrence rate were evaluated.Results: The postoperative effect was satisfactory,the varicose veins disappeard,the lower limb symptoms was apparently ameliorated.After more than three months,pigmentary cirrhosis was inequally relieved and skin itching disappeared in all the cases.Forty-nine cases with active ulcers healed during 10-15 days after operation,35 cases(4.1%) had superficial grade Ⅱ scald and 22 cases(3.3%) feeling pain after operation were cured selectively.Operation-field hypercutaneous ecchymosis in 94 cases(11%) vanished within one month.Small incisions in inguinal groove and mult-puncturation spots all healed smoothly without lympha leakage,infection and delayed healing.The average stay in laser treated group was 2.14(1.6-2.5)days versus 5.4(3-10) days in traditional operation group.By one month follow-up,10 cases were discovered small leakage-therapy varicose veins.After 4 years and 4 months,nine cases were discovered recurrence varicose vein.All above 19 cases were retreated with laser therapy under local anesthesia.By 4 years and 4 months follow-up,the recurrence rate was 1.41%.Conclusion: For varicose vein of lower limb,endovenous laser therapy is easier and safer in operation with better outlooks and lower recurrent rate than traditional operation.
