The Comparative Study of the Antidepressant Effect of Five Kinds of flos Albizzia in Sichuan Province

Abstract

Objective To compare the antidepressant effect of water extracts of the flowers of Albizzia julibrissin Durazz(hehuanhua)、A.kalkora(Roxb)Prain、A.calcarea Y.H.Huang、A.simeonis Harms、A.odoratissima(wild)Benth.MethodsThe forced swimming test and tail suspension test in mice were used to detect the antidepressant effect.ResultsThe water extracts of Albizzia julibrissin Durazz significantly shortened immobility time in the forced swimming test and in the tail suspension test in mice(dose 6g/kg),but the other kinds of flos Albizzia didn't have this effect.ConclusionAccording to preliminary studies,Albizzia julibrissin Durazz has antidepressant activity,however,the other kinds of Flos Albizzia don't have.
