A STUDY OF ACE GENE DELETION POLYMORPHISM IN PATIENTS WITH CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE

Abstract

Objective To analyse the relationship between the ACE gene deletion polymorphism and infarction, hemorrhage caused by hypertension in Chinese. Methods With polymerase chain reaction(PCR),we detected ACE genotypes in 60 healthy persons as controls, 21 essential hypertensives without cardio cerebrovascular disease, 58 patients with infarction and 31 hypertensives complicated by hemorrhage. Results There was no relationship between ACE gene deletion polymorphism and hypertension. The frequency of DD genotype among hypertensives complicated by hemorrhage(26%) was higher than that among the controls ( χ 2=5.014 1,P 0.05).There were no significant differences between infarction patients (21%) and healthy controls ( χ 2=3.398 4 ,P 0.05), but the frequency of DD genotype among infarction patients with hypertension (27%) and female infarction patients (26%) was significant higher than that among healthy control ( χ 2=6.435 6, 4.067 7,P 0.05). Conclusion The results suggest that ACE gene deletion polymorphism may be a susceptible factor to infarction and hemorrhage in Chinese hypertensives, and an independent risk factor for female infarction patients. [
