Abstract

Objective To study the health status of caregivers for dementia patients living in the community so as to provide evidence for the future intervention.Methods Using Self-Rated Health Questionnaire,Zarit Burden Inventory,and Center for Epidemiological Survey Depression Scale to investigate the health status of caregivers for dementia patients living in the community.Results Self-rated health of caregivers for dementia patients living in the community was poor;with 67.5% of them being in not good or very poor health.They perceived severe subjective burdens;and there are 32.5% caregivers with the symptoms of depression,their incidence of depression was higher than that of normal people (P0.05).Conclusion Health status of caregivers for dementia patients living in the community is poor.At the same time to pay close attention to the dementia patients,we should pay more attention to the caregivers.
