A Comparison of Piaget's and Kohlberg's Theories on Moral Development

Both Piaget and Kohlberg study man's moral development from cognitive point of view. While Piaget creates a new situation, Kohlberg is the most outstanding representative who studies moral development in the cognitive field after him. The paper compares their moral development theories from perspectives of moral psychology and moral education psychology, and from aspects of the nature and mechanism of moral development, factors affecting moral development, and stages of moral development, revealing the differences and similarities between their theories and Kohlberg's inheritance and development of Piaget's theory. The comparative study is theoretically and pragmatically significant to the moral development study in China.
