Abstract

Objective To observe the effects and safety of intermittent short-course chemotherapy in treatment of tuberculosis and explore anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy suitable in Wenzhou. Methods One hundred new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis prtients were randomiy selected and allocated into treatment group consissted of 50 cases and control group also consisted of 50 cases. The results of treatment and side effects were in the two grous were compared. Results The sputum negative conversion rate two months after treatment in the treatment group and the controlled group were 88.00% and 91.84% and 98.00% and 100% six months after treatment. The cavity closure rates six month after treatment in the treatment group anf control group were 58.06% and 65.38%.The rates of adverse reaction, abnormality of WBC and ALTin the treatment group were 12.00%,38.00% and 18.00%,while in the control group were 8.16%,30.61% and 8.16%,without significantly statistical difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The effect and adverse reaction of intermitteant short-course chemotherapy are similar to that of daily short-course chemotherapy in traeting new smear-positive tuberculosis patients, but with less times of drug administration. Thus can be popularized in practical treatment.
