Abstract

Purkinje cells(PCs) in the cerebellar cortex are displayed through routine Nissl stain and Golgi method. The staining effects are compared and discussed.Nissl stain shows clear PC body, distinct karyon, and the nucleolus in the karyon, whereas the dendrites and the axons are un-stained.The Golgi stain labeled the dendritic arborizations clearly and completely, the spines on the arborizations as well as the axon from the bottom of the body can also be clearly visualized, however left a blurry contour of the body.
