Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the outpaitent use of psychotropic drugs in The First Hospital of Peking University for references of rational drug use. METHODS: The outpatient prescriptions of psychotropic drugs in Jan. 2006 in The First Hospital of Peking University were randomly collected for a statistical analysis in respect of the variety, DDDs and drug interactions of psychotropic drugs. RESULTS: Of the total 2,180 prescriptions reviewed, the rate of combined use of psychotropic drugs was 77.3%, and 75.5% involved use of Benzodiazepines. Mental disorders were more likely complicated with primary diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease etc, and 47 were found to have potential drug interaction. CONCLUSION: Safe and rational use of psychotropic drugs should be emphasized for patients who have chronic basic diseases so as to avoid the occurrence of drug interaction.
