"Harmony" Is the General Order of Ancient Ethic in Chinese Nation

Abstract

Its common sense that harmony works as virtue, but it is rarely discussed in ethic history. As to its position in ethic system, it is seldom mentioned. This paper gives a systematic survey of harmony in ancient China in one hand and puts forward the view of harmony as the general order in ancient Chinese ethic and its consequent discussion in the other according to Dong Zhong-shu'sharmony's being greater than virtue and his heavenly virtue.
