Abstract

Objective:To investigate the role of Carisolv as chemical reagent in root canal preparation. Methods: The root canals of isolated teeth were dyed with methylene blue. The optical density of methylene blue was measured after necrotic tissue was removed, and the root canal cleaning was observed under scanning electron microscope. Results: The root canal cleaning of the teeth treated with Carisolv was significantly better than that of the teeth treated routinely. There was significant difference in the optical density when the apical master file size was 35 (P 0.05). Conclusion: Carisolv is an effective chemical reagent in root canal preparation. A master file of size 35 is recommended for the root canal preparation of single-canal teeth.
