Abstract
International specialization has evolved from inter-industry level to intra-industry and intra-product level, especially in manufacturing industries such as automobiles, electronics and apparels.Traditional trade theories are based on a potential assumption of trade of final goods and thus cannot explain the current trend of international trade. What is intra-product specialization and trade? What is the current state of research on this topic? How to analyze the organization or power structure of intra-product specialization? This paper, with cases in automobile industry,is intended to give a brief answer to these questions.
