Abstract
In this paper,we have reported the regularities of graft copolymerization of butyl methacylate onto corn starch using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator. The result showed that the grafting percentage was considerably affected by initiator concentration, monomer concentraion, reaction time and reaction temperature. The optimum conditions are the concentrations of butyl methacylate and initiator is 1.1 mol/L and 4.5 mmol/L respectively, the time of reaction is 3 h, the temperature of reaction is 55 ℃ .The structural analysis of graft copolymer was characterized by FT-IR. The result showed that the Corn starch/BMA grafting copolymer was produced. On the basis of experimental results , the mechanism of grafting has been primarily discussed.=
