Abstract

Objective To investigate the main performance characteristics of Coulter JT automated hematology analyzer, so as to supply clinics with accurate and reliable hematology analysis data Methods The instrument was evaluated in the way of 8 parameters and three parts differentiation of leukocyte with the fresh anticoagulated whole blood samples and control materials by double blind method Results All the mean within batch CVs and TCVs(Total Coefficient of Variation) for red blood cell(RBC)? hemoglobin(HGB)? hematocrit(HCT)? mean corpuscular volume(MCV)? mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC) were less than 1%, the mean CV and TCV for white blood cell(WBC) were 1 82% and 1 66% respectively, for platelet(PLT) were 1 76% and 2 43% respectively. The control materials' between batch CVs for 8 parameters were all less than 1% for 10 days. As compared to Swelab AC900 hematology analyzer, p were 0 05 and r were between 0 9463~0 9970 for WBC?RBC?HGB?HCT and PLT . To compare with manual method for leukocyte differentiation, sensitivity and specificity were acceptable,r for GRA ?LYM and mixed cells were 0 9569?0 9562 and 0 6881 respectively. ALL the carryovers for WBC?RBC?HGB?HCT and PLT were 1% Conclusions Coulter JT performed well with its designed characteristics, it can be called an exquisite article among automated hematology analyzers
