The optimium technique on upper air layering rooting of Salacca zalacca

The effects of date for air layering,stock age and ABT 1 rooting powder were studied to optimize the propagation techniqne of Salacca zalacca by air layering. The studies were carried out in the fruit forests of different stock ages at different time. The results showed that date for air layering had a significant effect on air layering of S. zalacca,rooting effects of layers layered in April were significantly better than that of the layers layered in August and December,the cold weather should be avoided,and water should be supplied during air layering if it wasn't rainy for a long time. Stock age had a significant effect on air layering of S. zalacca,the three years' old stocks of S. zalacca weren't suitable for propagate steckling by air layering,because their flowering rate was less than 50%,and the rooting rate was lower. Air layering was suitable for the stocks with age more than four years old. ABT 1 rooting powder had a significant effect on air layering of S. zalacca, the optimum concentration of ABT 1 rooting powder for air layering was 750 mg / L. Among the three factors,there weren't interaction effects,the optimum concentration of ABT 1 rooting powder for air layering didn't depend on date for air layering and stock age.
