Expression of Aurora-B Kinase in Lung Cancer Tissues and Its Clinical Significance

Objective To detect the expression of Aurora-B kinase in lung cancer tissues and to probe into the potential correlation between Aurora-B expression and tumor metastasis.MethodsForty-seven cases with lung cancer were collected,among which there were 15 with distant metastasis and 32 without metastasis.Eleven cases of normal lung tissues were used as control.Immunohistochemical SP analysis and Western blot were used to detect the expression of Aurora-B kinase in both lung cancer tissues and normal lung tissues.Results Thirty in all 47(63.8%)cases of lung cancers positively expressed Aurora-B kinase,whereas only 1 in all 11(9.1%)normal lung cases positively expressed Aurora-B(P0.05).And in 15 tumor cases with metastasis,13 positively expressed Aurora-B with a positive ratio as 86.7%;but in other 32 tumor cases without metastasis,only 17 positively expressed Aurora-B with a positive ratio as 53.1%(P0.05).Immunohistochemical analysis showed that the average percentage of positive-stained cells was(26.7±9.2)% in tumor cases with metastasis,while those in tumor cases without metastasis and normal tissue were(15.3±6.4)% and(3.1±2.3)% respectively(P0.05).Conclusion Aurora-B kinase has been found to overexpress in lung cancer and may be involved in tumor metastasis.
