Abstract

Objective To learn the relation between rheumatic heart disease complicated with atrial fibrillation and clinical factors. Methods One hundred and sixty-two patients with rheumatic heart disease were divided in two groups according to AF or not. There were 87 cases in AF group and 75 cases in sinus rhythm(SR) group.Age and gender were counted, and conventional heart color Doppler was conducted before and after valve replacement.Left atrial diameter(LAD),right atrial diameter(RAD), the right ventricular diameter(RVD),left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of two groups of patients were measured. Results Compared with SR group, the age was older,LAD,RAD and RVD increased, but LVEED decreased. At the same time,LVEF were decreased in AF group(P0.01). According to single and multiple regression,a positive correlation was shown between LAD and atrial fibrillation(P0.01),while LVEDD and LVEF was negatively correlated with atrial fibrillation(P0.01).Conclusions There is a correlation between rheumatic heart disease with atrial fibrillation and changes in cardiac structure or hemodynamic changes
