Abstract
The effects of salinity and body weight on oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate of Panulirus homarus were studied by the method of indoor experimental ecology. The results showed that, salinity and body weight have significant effects on oxygen consumption rate and ammonia excretion rate(p 0.05).When the salinity ranged from 18 to 34,both the oxygen consumption rate and the ammonia excretion rate were first decreased and then increased, and the lower oxygen consumption rate was 0.130 5 ± 0.010 5 mg/(g.h)(S = 26) and 0.1314 ± 0.0052 mg/(g.h)(S = 30),and the lower ammonia excretion rate was 0.173 3 ± 0.003 9 mg/(g.h)(S = 26) and 0.1724 ± 0.004 4 mg/(g.h)(S = 30),respectively.The oxygen consumption rate(Mo)and the ammonia excretion rate(MN)of Panulirus homarus were correlated positively with body weight(m),and the relationship between them could be expressed by Mo= 1.492 1 m 0.419 0 and MN= 1.129 5 m 0.698 8,respectively.The oxygen consumption rate(Ro)and ammonia excretion rate(RN)were correlated negatively with body weight, and the relationship could be expressed by Ro= 2.933 3 m-0.734 3and RN= 1.1291 m-0.301 1.
