Abstract

The carrying capacity of high speed railway section is calculated with the capacity of departing high speed trains. When there are stops on the way, the capacity is discounted. When there is mixed traffic of high speed trains and medium speed trains, the capacity is also discounted. So the calculation is complicated. This paper discusses the determination of line capacity of high speed railways both by theoretical and graphic methods. A theoretical analysis has been made of the discount of high-speed trains with stops relative to that without stops and the discount of medium speed trains relative to high speed trains with and without stops. And the relationship between the three is acquired. Computer is used to prepare the train working diagram for the high speed train and we get the discount coefficient of the high speed trains with stops and that of a different number of medium speed trains relative to high speed trains with and without stops. On this basis, the carrying capacity of railway sections is calculated where high speed and medium trains are operated, and the number of the medium speed trains varies. And we analyze the tendency of carrying capacity varying with the number of the medium speed trains.
