Abstract

In order to improve the design method of concrete silos,the reason for the inconsequence of lateral force based on deep silos and shallow silos was analyzed.The analysis results show when 1.0 h_n/d_n 1.5,lateral force should be calculated based on both deep silos and shallow silos and select the maximum value.When h_n/d_n≤1.0, lateral force can only be calculated based shallow silos.The difference in internal force distribution of silos based on three base constraints(free,hinged,and fixed) was illustrated by an engineering example using finite element method.The drawback of the non-moment theory was pointed out and concentrated loading method was suggested to solve the internal force of large diameter prestressed concrete silos.
