Abstract
From the Han to South-North dynasties, the Chinese language played a role in Western Regions. During the Tang and Song dynasties, the Chinese found a wider extension in the upper class of ethnic minorities. During the Yuan and Ming dynasties, the upper class of ethnic minorities could communicate without the help of an interpreter. In the Qing dynasty, the Chinese language spread far and wide around Xinjiang.
