Analysis and Strategy of Self-directed Learning for Learners of English in Open Education

Self-directed learning has been emphasized in teaching and learning of open education,which focuses on cultivating students’learning ability.The article analyzes the present situation in which learners of English learn by themselves and it suggests some strategies of how to improve their ability of self-directed learning,namely motivating students’learning initiative,training their self-directed learning methods and skills,changing the concept of teaching and learning,reforming teaching method and making the best use of online resources.
