Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effects of photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) for myopia. Methods:With Summit Omnied excimer laser PRK was performed on 10389 eyes with myopia of -2.00 to -9.00 diopters 〔mean,(-5.359±2.322)D〕and 177 eyes were followed up for at least 3 years. Observations were made on the percentages of uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA),refractive power, topogropy,opacification of cornea,IOP,endothelium and complications.Results:In the third year ,the percentage of UCVA above 0.5 and 1.0 were:GroupⅠ100% and 95.7%.Group Ⅱ 97.1% and 83.3% Group Ⅲ 95.8% and 65.4%. Those whose refractive outcome was within±1.00D: Group Ⅰ88.5%、Group Ⅱ 86.3%、 Group Ⅲ 67.6%.Conclusion:PRK is an effective and safe procedure for correcting myopia.
