Abstract
Based on the performance curve, the general design method for energy dissipation structures with non-linear viscous dampers has been suggested to satisfy the performance requirement of the vibration mitigation target. The equivalent damping ratio expression of multi-degree energy dissipation structures with non-linear viscous dampers has been presented. The mode superposition method is applied to analyze the seismic response of the structures.Comparison of the numerical results of the present method with the step-by-step time history method show reasonable of present method. In order to satisfy the performance requirement better, the adjustment procedure for the damper parameters arranged in every layer of the structure is proposed.
