Abstract

Objective To study the effect of pretreatment of midazolam(0.015 mg/kg)to reduce myoclonus after injection of etomidate. Methods 100 patients undergoing operation with general anesthesia were divided into two groups randomly with 50 cases in each group:midazolam group and control group. Before injection with etomidate(0.3 mg/kg),each group received midazolam 0.015 mg/kg or NS (the same ml. as midazolam). Myoclonus were observed and recorded. Both groups received fentanyl 4 μg/kg,and rocuronium 0.6mg/kg 1 min later;tracheal intubation was performed after muscle relaxant completely. Results Only 5 patients in group midazolam were found myoclonus slightly,39 patients in control group(P0.01).There was no significant difference between male and female in control group. Conclusions IThe effect of pretreatment of midazolam(0.015 mg/kg)can reduce myoclonus after etomidate induction of general anesthesia.
