Abstract
Now the existing fifty poems of YU Xuanji are mostly love poems. Contents of remembrance of the past, pursuit of love, worries about her emotion, expressions of her inner loneliness lively present her emotional journey. YU Xuanji was good at using words, and her sentences are ingenious. She preferred regulated verse, and was skilled in antithesis. The words she used are straightforward; she expressed her heart by allusions, veiled and tactful. YU's love poems are vivid, focusing on the scene, blending feelings with the scene, making good use of metaphor, with abundant imagination. All of these artistic formations form the style of YU's love poems. Although YU was a Taoist nun and she behaved debauchedly, literary criticism should not be judged by its author. Critics of poems should give author and poems a comprehensive value.
