Abstract

The color reaction of Cr(Ⅲ) with DBC-arsenazo is investigated. The results show that under weak acid and heating conditions,DBC-arsenazo and Cr(Ⅲ) formed 2∶1 blue complex, the maximum absorption wave lenghth locates in 625nm,the apparent molar absorption coefficient is 2.46×104L·mol -1·cm -1.Beer's law is obeyed over a range of 0~15μg chromium per 25mL.Based on this reaction a new directed determination method for trace chromium is established. In contrast to those of the standard sample of alloy steel, the experimental results are satisfied.
