Abstract

According to the prototype of slab continuous casting crystallizer at Jinan Branch of Shangdong Iron and Steel Group Co.,Ltd.,water model with the geometric similarity ratio of 1∶1and the same Fr criterion as prototype was established.Under the condition of different casting speed, the effect of side hole angle and outlet size of the submerged entry nozzle on the inner flow filed and liquid surface fluctuation of crystallizer was studied. Results show that with the certain casting speed, when side hole angle and outlet size increase, the liquid surface fluctuation decreases, the up and down vorticity center are closer to the narrow wall of crystallizer, and impacting depth increases.Considering the above factors, the submerged entry nozzle with the side hole angle of 5°and outlet size of 100mm×65mm×R32.5mm was selected.
