Professor ZHOU Zhong-ying put forward an idea of building a new syndrome differentiation and treatment system,of which pathogenesis is the core,and pathogenesis factor is the unit.In this way,we can make the process of syndrome differentiation more flexible,and deal with complex syndromes with limited pathogenesis factors.Pathogenesis factor is the basic element for identifying pathogenesis,and has three characteristics: single,multiple,and compound.Compound pathogenesis factors can not be split,and have relevance in between.So the treatment should concern every factor.There are three forms: compound zang-fu organs,compound causes and compound organs with causes.Mutiple pathogenesis factors can be split and added on.We should grasp the main contradiction for the treatment,and distinguish manifestation or root,remission or acute stage.There are also three forms: mutiple zang-fu organs or locations,mutiple causes and mutiple organs with causes.
