Abstract
Cerebral edema is a common symptom in neurology and neurosurgery.Currently its cause is still not fully understood, thus its treatment means and effect are still limited.AQP(Aquaporin),a kind of molecule water channel in the body,is discovered in 1988.AQP4(aquaporin-4) is a subtype of AQP and found to be closely related to the formation and prognosis of cerebral edema. The inhibiting and enhancing of AQP4 can affect the formation and prognosis of cerebral edema and it is also found that AQP4 may have other functions.In-depth study of the relationship between AQP4 and cerebral edema can help answer the questions regarding the formation and treatment of cerebral edema, and at the same time enhance understanding of water metabolism in the body.
