Abstract
The 10 mm thick AZ31B alloy is welded with AZ31 and AZ61 welding wires by TIG method. The appearance, the microstructure, the profile of the alloy elements and the patterns of welded joint with two type welding wires were analyzed by means of OM, SEM, X -ray diffraction, and etc. The result showed that the appearance was perfect with AZ31 and AZ61 welding wire, and the appearance of joint welded with AZ31 welding wire was better than with AZ61 welding wire. Al12Mg17 compound existed in crystal interface of welding line welded with AZ61 welding wire, but didn’t with AZ31 welding wire. The highest hardness was in welding line with AZ61 welding wire, but in base metal with AZ31 welding wire. The strength of weld joint welded with AZ61 welding wire was 20% more than that welded with AZ61 welding wire.
