Abstract
Compared with other electronic controlled injection system, the common-rail system offers more controllable parameters to optimize the combustion process in diesel engines. This Journal has reported the application of the FIRCRI common-rail system on STYER WD 615.68 diesel engine. The pressure in the cylinder and the heat release analysis are employed to study the effects of the injection pressure and split injection rate on the combustion process and NO x-smoke emission.
