Abstract
Direct shear test and pull-out test are two means to quantify the interaction characteristics of the interface between soils and geosynthetics, but the mechanism of both is so much different. In this paper, the comparison o of the two experimental methods is carried out according to the results from direct shear test and pull-out test. It's discussed that the differences and reasons of the interface shear strength obtained from direct shear test and pull-out test. The results of test show that: for woven geotextiles, the shear strength from direct shear test and pull-out test is more or less the same, but the peak displacement of which is so much different;as for the glass fiber grid, the shear strength of direct shear test is greater than that of pull-out test.
