Food Poisoning in Sichuan Province,2009-2011

Objective To analyze the status of food poisoning events in Sichuan province,and to provide scientific basis for formulating effective control measures.Methods The data of food poisoning events in Sichuan from the Public Health Emergency Network Direct Reporting System and the Food-Borne Disease Surveillance Network were analyzed.Results A total of 115 food poisoning events were reported in Sichuan during 2009-2011,leading to 3092 cases and 23 deaths.The food poisoning events occurred in family and catering services accounted for 63.48% and the events caused by microbiological hazards accounted for 39.13%.Conclusion Family and catering services are the main sites on which food poisoning events occurred.Microbiological hazards will be the main pathogenic factor of food poisoning in Sichuan in a long time.
