Abstract

Through analyzing modern epistemology and psychology,Mannheim created sociology of knowledge whose core views included that environment determines knowledge, group knowledge determines individual knowledge. He believed that previous theories of knowledge were the product of party politics, and sociology of knowledge was to establish a knowledge system which served for human and was non-partisan and purely objective.Since it lacks overall grasp of social issues and integrated study method,Mannheim's sociology of knowledge seems to be abstract, inane and difficult to achieve although it deepened the study on knowledge in the dimension of existentialism.
