Survey and analysis of the requirements for health education in inpatients with liver diseases

Abstract

Objective To study the requirements for health education in inpatients with liver diseases and in order to set up a appropriate health education plan to improve the effect of health education,to develop a health education model with infectious diseases nursing for patients with liver diseases.Methods 314 inpatients with liver diseases in our hospital were selected to complete the questionnaires,the results were calculated and analyzed.Results Among the 314 inpatients,133 patients(42.4%) expected that they can be given health guideline anytime,176(56.1%) believed 15 minutes was the ideal time for health education and 172(54.8%) hoped that they can get the health education throughout the period when they were in hospital.220 inpatients(70.1%) believed that one on one service was the best health education method,206 patients(65.6%) hoped that the health education be given by the doctors,149 patients(47.5%) did not care the age of the health educators.Among the seven kinds of contents of the health education,the most that the patients wanted was the health situation of themselves(which was chosen by 66.9% inpatients),and among the seven kinds of methods of the health education,lecture and demonstration were chosen by 28.6% patients and 25.7% patients,respectively.Conclusion The patients can improve the ability of self care,develop health awareness and behavior if they be given appropriate health education according to the requirements.
