Abstract

Horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was used to investigate the genetic structure and genetic diver- sity of three kinds of Mugilidae,Chelon carinata,C.haematocheilus and Mugil cephalus.Twelve loci were identified in the eight enzymes(G3PDH,IDHP,LDH,MDH,MPI,PGDH,PGM and SOD)analyzed. The proportions of polymorphic loci were 0.333 3,0.166 7 and 0.083 33,and the average observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.074 8,0.039 6,0.003 5 and 0.095 9,0.047 4,0.003 4 respectively. The average number of efficient allele for each locus was 1.201 3,1.071 2 and 1.003 5.The genetic distance among the three species varied from 0.607 4 to 1.731 5.The relationship was closer between Chelon carinata and C. haematocheilus. There was complete or approximate complete replacement of alleles at LDH~*,IDHP~*, MDH-2~*,MDH-3~*,MDH-4~*,G3PDH~*,SOD-2~*,PGM~*,PGDH~* and MPI~* between the species. The results showed that the three species can be identified by the eight kinds of isozymes.
