Abstract
Hollow glass bead(HGB)was covered and treated with polyurethane composites,and was induced into a self-made epoxy-polyurethane(EP-PU)system,epoxy composites modified by HGB treated with PU was prepared.Hollow glass bead after treated was characterized by X-ray photoelectron(XPS)spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and studied its effect on the properties of cured materials.The result showed that compatibility between HGB and resin was improved by HGB surface chemistry modification,when the content of the HGB was up to 20% of the content of resin,the composites' density decreased from 1.113 g/cm3 to 0.864 g/cm3,decreased by 22.37%;Linear cured shrinkage rate decreased significantly,thus increased its dimensional stability of the curing material.The introduction of HGB made better toughness of cured materials,and decreased the density and linear shrinkage curing rate.The toughening mechanism was mainly the crack growth prevention of the HGB andisland structureof PU.
