PTC-Wittig reactions of diphenyl diethyl phosphonium salt and diphenyl dibenzylphosphonium salt with para-substituted aromatic aldehydes were studied.Experimental resu-lts showed that the resulting products were mainly of the E-type.The E-selectivity wasaffected apparently by sterie effect of the para-substituents of aromatic aldehydes and pola-rity of the solvents.A possible mechanism was proposed.
