Abstract
H4SiW12O40/ silica gel was used as catalyst for the esterification of propionic acid with n-amyl alcohol. The effects of the molar ratio of alcohol to propionic acid, the amount of the catalyst, and the reaction time on synthesizing n-amyl propionate were investigated.A suitable condition for synthesizing n-amyl propionate was obtained, and under this condition, the yield of n-amyl propionate can reach 84.2%.
