The storm deposits in the Upper Permian Shiqianfeng Formation in the Dengfeng region,Henan

The Upper Permian Shiqianfeng Formation in the Dengfeng region,Henan is mainly composed of the lacustrine clastic rocks in which the tempestites are well developed.These tempestites have the features of sedimentary structures including scour surface,hummocky cross-beddings,convolute beddings,ripple beddings and water-escape structures.The idealized sedimentary sequences of the tempestites are generalized and consist,from bottom to top,of the intervals Sa,Sb,Sc,Sd and Se.The types of the tempestites include autochthonous and allochthonous tempestites,indicating a typical lacustrine environment.The identification of the tempestites in the study area has an important significance for the recognition of sedimentary facies and reconstruction of the palaeogeographic environments of the Upper Permian Shiqianfeng Formation in the Dengfeng region,Henan.
