Abstract

Concentrations and health risk assessments of heavy metals in cultivation soils and vegetables accumulation from REEs mining area of Changting county of Fujian province were studied based on field systematic sampling. The cultivation soils were contaminated seriously by heavy metals, especially Cd,Cu and As,exceeding 10.71,1.12,0.29 times higher than the National Soil Quality Standard-GradeⅡ;the potential ecological risk index of soils was 373.66,which had extremely potential ecological risk. The concentrations of Cd and As in vegetables were 10.926,1.016 times higher than those of the maximum levels of contaminants in foods. The order of individual risk index for the health of adult and children was As Cd Pb,in which As had an extremely high risk. Moreover, children were more sensitively affected by heavy metals from vegetables ingestion, therefore, attention should be paid to children's health monitoring in such area. Most of vegetables of mining area had great capacities of uptake and accumulation heavy metals, therefore local farmers should choose appropriate vegetables of low accumulation heavy metals for reducing health risk effectiveness.
