Abstract
Objective:To explore the efficacy of ondansetron and metoclopramide in preventing the vomiting caused by chemotherapy.Methods:112 cases of cancer who were treated mainly by the combination of cisplatin were studied. The dosage of cisplatin was 40mg per day.The treatment course was three days. The cases in control group were given only ondansetron in the first treatment course. The cases in experimental group were given both ondansetron and metoclopramide in the second treatment course. The results were recorded and compared. Results:The efficacy rate in control and experimental groups were 86.61% and 97.32%,respectively.The significant difference between the two groups was found ( P 0.05).The dosage of ondansetron could be reduced to 50% when combinning with metoclopradmide. No extrapyramidal reaction was found. The constipation rate was also low in experimental group ( P 0.05).Conclusion:The combination of ondansetron and metoclopramide has the advantage in preventing the vomiting caused by chemotherapy.
