Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of anterior vitrectomy combined with primary implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lens for the posterior capsulorhexis following extracapsular cataract extraction.]Methods Anterior vitrectomy combined with primary implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lens was performed on 49 cases from 1 480 cases of posterior capsulorhexis following extracapsular cataract extraction. The surgical technique, postoperative complication and postoperative visual acuity were analyzed. Results In 49 cases,70% of the intraocular lenses were implanted in capsular bag,the rest were in ciliary sulcus. The visual acuity was 0.5 or better in 45 cases postoperatively. The rate of posterior capsulorhexis was 3.3%.THZ]Conclusions Anterior vitrectomy combined with primary implantation of intraocular lens for posterior capsuloxheris following extracapsular cataract extraction is safe and effective.
